Atkins Brothers Concrete Bio

Atkins Brothers Concrete was founded by brothers Gary and Greg Atkins in Beaver Creek, Ohio, just outside of Dayton. The brothers began their careers as carpenters in the early 1980s, working on residential interior trim back when it seemed everyone was a carpenter. As the housing market struggled, they came across aluminum forms for the first time. Intrigued by the possibilities, they gained formwork knowledge and saw an opportunity to bring unmatched quality to the market.

By 1994, they officially launched Atkins Brothers Concrete. The company began as a footer and wall contractor and remained focused on that specialty for many years. Over time, services expanded to include waterproofing, excavation, gravel work, and selective flatwork. The business ultimately became a total package provider for residential and commercial concrete needs.

Over the years, Atkins Brothers has been entrusted with many memorable projects in the area – from basements requiring more than 300 yards of concrete, to homes of NFL players and notable public figures. One particularly meaningful project was completing the foundation work as part of a community effort to build a handicap-accessible home for a former Dayton Police Officer injured in the line of duty. During this project, the Atkins’ offices were leveled by a tornado. Resilient as always, the team rebuilt and pressed forward, losing only equipment but never their drive.

For more than 30 years, the company’s proudest achievements have been its reputation for excellence and the lasting relationships built with builders, contractors, and suppliers. The Atkins Brothers philosophy has always been clear: when you work with them, you’re not just a customer - you become part of the family. Their mother’s wisdom, “never turn anyone away from the table hungry,” shaped not only their personal values but also the way they treated employees, customers, and partners.

Gary retired seven years ago and Greg has carried the business forward until announcing his own retirement this year. Greg looks forward to traveling—celebrating his retirement with family and friends in the Caribbean—and breaking ground on a new home. Fittingly, the last basement he plans to pour will be his own.

Throughout its history, Atkins Brothers has weathered ups and downs, stood strong through challenges, and remained committed to quality. The company has also proudly been part of the Concrete Foundations Association (CFA) for more than 25 years, with Greg becoming an active member and advocate for the organization.

As Atkins Brothers Concrete closes its doors, the legacy left behind is one of hard work, integrity, family values, and craftsmanship that will continue to stand tall.

BIC Auctions is honored to host the Atkins Brothers Concrete Retirement Auction on Wednesday, October 1. This sale will feature a large amount of aluminum concrete forms, a knuckle boom truck, pickup trucks, trailers, a skid steer, construction support equipment, and much more. We are pleased to help Greg close out this remarkable chapter and we wish him the very best in his retirement!
